ITV "House
Race"
This proto-type
urban house was developed with Greenheart and ITV for the ‘House Race’ television
programme
by ITV Central. Our design is environmentally friendly and suited for repetitive
use in medium to high density urban locations.
Pre-fabrication enables very rapid site construction; combined with appropriate
technologies and sustainable materials the result is an affordable, efficient
and comfortable house.
The layout includes private external space and a double height living room.
The house can accommodate various orientations in terrace, semi-detached
or stand-alone forms.

Gibson
Road, Bristol - A Small Urban
House
Located
in a conservation area in Bristol a
planning appeal was won by us prior to construction.
On the site of 3 garages, the design required the inventive use of space
and includes an open terrace that can be combined with the main day space
by closing the roof over. This sliding glazed roof and an internal wall
dramatically extend the living area. Now in use the effect has exceeded
expectations and, although dependent the upon weather, the roof is often
open.
The high specification of internal finishes, fittings, wall insulation
with under floor
heating and thermal solar collector, all combine to produce low energy
use, maintenance and running costs.
Published
in the April 2006 edition of SelfBuild & Design, the house is also
featured in April 2007 edition of the Ideal Home magazine.
The
roof designed by us is motorized and double glazed.
It spans 6 metres with a pin jointed ridge, and weighs
620kg, yet a force of only 18kg will move it. Special bearings have been
used, each of which carry force of 400kg.
Commended
Award 2005 received from Redland and Cotham Amenity Society.

Houses, Abbots Leigh, Bristol
Demolition of an existing bungalow provided the site for a 5 bedroom contemporary
house designed in close consultation with the client. The house has a
balconied double height living room opening onto the garden. The high
quality of specification included on-suite bathrooms to all bedrooms,
passive solar design principles with high insulation under floor heating,
heat recovery ventilation, hardwood & tiled floors, stainless steel main
stairs and ironmongery.
The
house was used in 2007 as the set for one episode of Afterlife screened
nationally on ITV.
The
first house is now sold and our repeat commission for the house next door,
also demolished a bungalow.
Of
similar high specification, 5 bedroom house is now completed and has been
used by BBC1 for the location of scenes in the 6 part series of the Mistresses.

street.

in 1747 and Listed Grade II, this typical form is a fine example of dry

located on a working farm. It will have a double height living room and

New
kitchen/dining space which opens up with a 5-panel sliding folding door
to extend out into the rear garden. |

Housing
design always involves the location and sketch design for the kitchen
to be completed by us. Some times we complete the process, providing the
specification and full design.
In this instance stainless steel appliances, units and shelving compliment
each other. The granite worktop has a flush mounted induction hob and
inset sinks, with mixer tap mounted in the back lit laminated glass splash
back to ensure ease of cleaning.
Drawers, cupboards and pull-out larder and refuse/recycling fittings complete
the functionality of the kitchen.
