Workstation design, (computer image) Aardman Animations

Commercial and industrial

The practice has extensive experience of designing for the workplace. - from the award winning refurbishment of a grade II listed early Victorian builder's offices to the design of modern business facilities and work places.

We can find and assess development sites, prepare the brief, obtain planning and other approvals, prepare detailed design documentation, obtain tenders or negotiated contracts and administer the contract to completion.

In the industrial sector, our experience is greatest in designing for specific needs. We enjoy the challenge of working with unusual and different situations. This calls for close collaboration with the client to assess space and environmental requirements.

We can assist with space planning - from a single workstation to major plant and machinery installations. To this end, the use of CAD has enhanced the working process, allowing us quickly to assess alternative layouts, and where necessary provide detailed furniture layouts and visualisations.

Major film production studios - Aardman Animations Gas Ferry Road - Inscape were responsible for the original conversion of the banana warehouse in Gas Ferry Road, Bristol into Aardman's principle film studios, followed by a rolling programme of alterations and improvements. Proposals for a major expansion of these premises were taken to contract stage when a scale change required far larger studios, leading to the conversion of a large existing industrial unit completed in a negotiated partnership with management contractors, within tight cost limits on a £1.1million budget, and on time in 20 weeks.
